A world first! The flameless cook system uses water to activate a heat pack that will give you 40 minutes of cooking time at up to 194 degrees F per use(depending on heating pack used). This unique product is safe to use as there are no naked flames to get burnt on and there are no nasty fumes created meaning you can use it safely inside of a tent.

good for fire restriction areas

Bought one of these from REI, haven't had a chance yet to try it in the field but did so in the backyard. Heated a little over a cup of water on the first try and it works as advertised. Heated water rather quickly, not to a boil but to the right temp for a mountain house meal. The system is very simple and was able to operate everything with light gloves (actually I advise on wearing gloves). The only drawback was that a small amount of the heating water from the bottom portion of the container leaked past the seal while pouring from the spout and got on my hands. My solution for the issue was to just pop the lid off and remove the flask and pour straight into the meal bag (hence the need for gloves, it's rather hot without). I also tried melting frost from my freezer on the second attempt to simulated snow. It worked great and was only a little slower than plain water (6 mins. Compared to 41/2 mins.) overall I like it and would recommend for anyone looking for a water warming source that is flameless even with the minor leaking issue (why I gave only 4 stars).Test conditions, outside temp - 39 degrees, light source - headlamp only, total time 11 mins.
